trigalight
THE ORIGINAL: FIRST CHOICE OF PROFESSIONALS!
trigalight is a brand owned by the Swiss microtechnology company mb-microtec ag, based in Niederwangen near Bern. mb-microtec ag is the inventor and global market leader in the development and production of the unique self-powered illumination technology. The technology is primarily used in the watch, safety, outdoor and aeronautical industries.
trigalight is a unique self-powered illumination technology with the world’s smallest gaseous tritium light sources (GTLS), which deliver luminescence for decades without any external energy source.
A trigalight consists of a glass capillary, which is coated on the inside with a powder mixture and filled with tritium. The powder mixture contains the phosphor zinc sulfide, which reacts with the tritium to generate light. The glass capillaries are available in various colors, shapes, and sizes. Their current minimum outer diameter is 0.30 mm, known as hairlights.
AREAS OF APPLICATION
trigalight are integrated into a wide range of products across diverse industries — wherever manufacturers require a light source that operates permanently, without power, and completely maintenance-free. We cater exclusively to businesses in the B2B sector. Every component is custom-manufactured to customer specifications, meeting the precise and individual requirements of the final product.

TECHNOLOGY
trigalight works similar to a cathode ray tube, which was once used in television screens. The luminescent coating (zinc sulphide) on the inside of the glass capillaries has the ability to transform the kinetic energy of the electrons into light. The energy is generated by the added tritium gas. The tritium nucleus slowly decays, emitting electrons in the process. When the electrons hit the coating, energy in the form of light is emitted. The colour variations of trigalight depend on the diversity of coatings. The luminescence of the light sources is proportional to the filling pressure (quantity of gas).
HOW WE WORK WITH YOU
Every trigalight® integration starts with your requirements. We take it from there.
Requirements & Feasibility
You bring your product, your application and your constraints. We assess feasibility, define the optimal light source format, advise on regulatory requirements and present a clear technical path forward. No obligation, no guesswork.
Engineering & Consulting
Our in-house engineering team develops the integration concept with you: geometry, dimensions, activity levels, housing adaptation, assembly method. We can review your drawings, produce 3D models and test hypotheses before any tooling is committed.
Prototype & Validation
We produce functional prototypes for evaluation and testing. Optical, mechanical and regulatory testing is performed in-house. You receive validated samples and full technical documentation before any production decision is made.
Series Production & Assembly
Once approved, we produce your trigalight® components in our climate-controlled 1,200 m² facility in Niederwangen, Switzerland. We can deliver loose components, pick-and-place pallets for automated assembly lines, or fully assembled sub-assemblies ready for your next production step. Everything is produced to your specification, inspected individually and shipped to your schedule.
