trigalight is a hermetically sealed glass capillary, coated on the inside with luminescent powder and filled with tritium gas. The result: a light source that glows continuously for over a decade without any external energy source, battery or switch. It requires no electronics, no maintenance and no intervention of any kind.
Our glass light sources are available in a remarkable range of sizes — from a 0.30 mm hairlight, finer than five human hairs, to larger custom formats — and in a wide spectrum of colours, shapes and geometries. We produce standard formats in volume and develop fully custom solutions for applications where off-the-shelf does not exist.
Whether you need a single-colour rod for a watch hand, a curved form for an instrument bezel, a block for a tactical insert or a UV-reactive element for jewellery, trigalight has the format. If your application is not covered below, we will develop it with you from scratch.

The products on this page are not sold retail. Every trigalight® light source we manufacture is produced to order for a specific B2B partner and a specific product application. Standard formats are available for established applications; custom dimensions, geometries and coatings are developed for partners whose requirements fall outside the standard range.

STANDARD GTLS
THE PROVEN FOUNDATION — LUMINESCENT FOR DECADES.
The standard trigalight GTLS (Gaseous Tritium Light Source) is the product on which everything else is built. A glass capillary, coated with zinc sulphide luminescent powder and filled with tritium gas, hermetically sealed by laser at both ends. It glows continuously from day one, in complete darkness, without any activation, power source or maintenance.
Standard GTLS are the workhorse of the trigalight range — used in millions of applications across watches, tactical equipment, safety products and instrumentation worldwide. They are available in 9 standard colours, a broad range of diameters and lengths, and in cylindrical, block and curved geometries. Customer-specific formats are produced to order.
Colours
Our standard colour is green — the colour perceived brightest by the human eye. Eight additional standard colours are available: yellow, orange, red, blue, white, purple, pink and cyan. Custom colour matching is possible for high-volume applications.
Shapestrigalight
Standard GTLS are available as cylindrical rods (round cross-section), blocks (rectangular cross-section) and curved/arched forms. The cylindrical rod is the most common format, used across watch, tactical and safety applications. Blocks and arches are standard for dial and bezel integration.
Sizes
Outer diameters from 0.30 mm (hairlight) to 3.00 mm and beyond in custom formats. Lengths from 1.5 mm to 22.5 mm as standard, with longer custom lengths available. All dimensions produced to tight tolerances at our climate-controlled facility in Niederwangen.
SUPER POWERED
UP TO 80% BRIGHTER — WITH THE SAME ACTIVITY.
The Super Powered trigalight (SP-GTLS) is the latest generation of self-luminous tritium light source. An ultra-thin aluminium layer — just a few nanometres thick — is applied to the outer glass surface using a PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) process. This creates a precision mirror that redirects light generated in the core to the desired emission point, increasing luminous intensity by up to 80% without increasing tritium activity.
For manufacturers working under regulatory activity limits — such as watch producers constrained by per-product GBq caps — the Super Powered trigalight delivers a new design freedom: same brightness with lower activity, or significantly higher brightness within the same regulatory envelope. It integrates directly into existing components with no dimensional changes required.
Performance
Up to 80% increased brightness versus standard GTLS at the same tritium activity level. The aluminium coating also protects against UV radiation and reduces infrared-induced heat, extending operational lifespan. Partial coatings and masked areas allow precise light directionality — including custom logos, numerals and brand marks applied directly onto the light source surface.
Coating Options
The aluminium layer can be applied axially (along the length), radially (around the circumference) or partially using sophisticated masking. Partial and patterned coatings open design possibilities for watch dials and precision instruments: inscriptions, logos and geometric shapes can be created at miniature scale directly on the trigalight surface.
Compatibility
The Super Powered trigalight retains the same outer dimensions as the standard GTLS. It is a drop-in upgrade for any existing application — no housing redesign, no tooling changes. Available in the same colour and shape range as standard GTLS. Fully recyclable: the aluminium coating does not interfere with tritium recovery.
SPECTRALIGHT
VIVID BY DAY. LUMINOUS BY NIGHT.
spectralight is the next generation of trigalight self-powered illumination technology. Where the classic trigalight uses transparent glass — outstanding in darkness, neutral in daylight — spectralight uses specially developed coloured glass capillaries with precisely tuned internal phosphor coatings. The result: vivid, clearly recognisable colour in bright conditions, with the same proven self-powered glow in darkness that trigalight has delivered for decades.
For manufacturers who need their product to be identifiable in both full daylight and complete darkness — watchmakers designing 24-hour legible dials, tactical equipment producers requiring day/night sight visibility, safety product manufacturers needing colour-coded equipment — spectralight provides a solution that no other technology can match.
Colours & Sizes
Currently available in four colours: orange, green, red and blue. Two standard sizes: Ø 0.65 mm and Ø 0.90 mm. Each colour has been individually developed to achieve the optimal match between glass composition and internal coating, ensuring maximum colour fidelity in bright conditions and full luminescence in darkness. Additional colours and sizes are in development.

Technology
spectralight combines coloured glass capillaries with phosphor coatings that are individually tuned per colour. Traditional trigalight uses transparent glass with luminescent powder only — optimal for darkness, neutral in daylight. spectralight adds the coloured glass layer, creating strong contrast in bright environments while preserving the same dark-environment luminescence. Proven glow guaranteed for 10+ years.
UV LIGHT
THE SPECIAL EFFECTS UNDER BLUE LIGHT.
UVlight is a tritium-free product from mb-microtec — the creators of trigalight — designed for applications where UV-reactive luminescence is more appropriate than tritium-based self-powered glow. UVlight uses coated glass elements that react to UV light sources, producing vivid, eye-catching colour that transforms ordinary objects into visually striking pieces.
The primary application is jewellery design, where UVlight elements can be integrated into pendants, earrings, bracelets and other pieces to create dramatic colour effects under UV illumination. The product uses the same precision glass manufacturing infrastructure as trigalight, with ultra-thin elements starting at 0.3 mm outer diameter.
Colours
Six standard UV-reactive colours available, with additional colours producible on demand. Colours are vivid and clearly visible under UV light, with a neutral or subtle appearance in normal daylight. Custom colour matching available for high-volume applications.
Shapes & Sizes
Available in the same glass geometries as standard trigalight: cylindrical rods, blocks and custom shapes. Outer diameter from 0.3 mm. Lengths and geometries produced to customer specification. Integration via adhesive or frame mounting — no complex assembly required.
Integration
UVlight elements are integrated using standard adhesives or frame settings, compatible with jewellery making techniques used for stones and other inlay materials. The glass construction is durable, premium-grade and appropriate for everyday wear applications. Tritium-free — no regulatory requirements for transport, retail or end-user handling.
